The Tower Point Re-development and Rooftop restaurant

A new destination rooftop restaurant will provide panoramic views of the city. The ‘halo’ roof design will become a beacon for this destination in distant views and enliven the evening skyline.

The new building will be innovative in its construction and strive towards excellence in ‘fabric first’ sustainability and passive environmental design measures.

Stickland Wright’s contextual response underpinned our planning success. But it is also very important to achieve a collective ‘buy-in’ to your vision. With this design we sought to adorn an unremarkable building with an eye-catching addition and to communicate how this would improve the appearance of the whole and make a significant contribution to the context.

Within our SW+ service, we consider the next stages of design even at concept stage, ensuring future viability is a key focus. The proposed rooftop restaurant presented significant challenges including access, means of escape, and overall operational logistics. Our SW+ experts provided support in addressing these complexities and developing practical and innovative solutions.

Low energy design was considered at concept stages. The design maximised panoramic views across Brighton while addressing the challenges posed by extensive glazing, such as heat loss and overheating. To optimise performance, LEAF used modelling to refine shading devices and passive ventilation routes, ensuring a comfortable and energy-efficient environment.
