Stickland Wright brought understanding of volumetric modular design constraints, into their planning concepts. This is one of the strengths of having specialisms at all project stages, which can combine to generate better outcomes for our clients. We made the planning submissions for two sites, with differing topography, but still using one standard unit type.
Our SW+ service included working very closely with Boutique Modern who designed each module fabric, using their own system build specification. We then dealt with the overall compliance and detailed integration of each unit into its specific setting. With volumetric modular schemes the units must be received, without drama, onto ready-made infrastructure and groundworks.
Closing the ‘performance gap’ is the main environmental benefit of volumetric modular construction. Factory installation of insulations and proper sealing of joints, combined with improved quality control procedures, lead to much more assured performance outcomes in the final build. Waste material efficiency and re-use can all be better managed.
