Kindling: Sustainable Interior Design for a new restaurant with seasonal and local produce at its heart

We were approached by the owners to create an interior design for their new restaurant concept to be located in central Brighton. The food was to be cooked over fire and the ingredients sourced as ethically, sustainably and as locally as possible. We worked collaboratively with the chefs, graphic designers and branding agency to ensure a cohesive concept was delivered across all the touchpoints of the brand and reflected the style of cuisine and their ethos.

Our design brings the warmth of nature to the interior with the use of timber rafts and panelling, terracotta tiles and an abundance of plants. We overcame the challenges of a long narrow site by introducing a central open plan kitchen with views to the grill and chefs at work, bringing a visually exciting focal to the interior and a favourite dining spot for customers.

Stickland Wright’s interior design process began with in-depth competitor research and a thorough brand analysis. Collaborating closely with the graphic design team,  a distinctive brand identity was crafted to set the restaurant apart within Brighton’s dynamic dining scene. This identity was seamlessly translated into a fresh yet intimate dining experience.

Our SW+ service guided this project from concept to completion. We developed a comprehensive tender package, including detailed construction drawings for bespoke elements, as well as material and fitting specifications. Additionally, we provided on-site support to ensure the design was executed to the highest standard.
