Coastal Home Refurbishment

Full house interior design to create a sea-facing restorative retreat.

The location of this newly constructed house is simply unique, situated directly behind the beach and with uninterrupted sea views. Our brief was to create a natural, warm and inviting interior which embraced the setting.

We re-configured the top floor Master bedroom to enable the bed to face the sea for that perfect morning vista. The slatted oak screen allows the view and light to be visible from the ensuite behind, and this is framed by bespoke hidden storage, ensuring the ocean remains centre stage. In the living room a contemporary fireplace was added with bespoke storage, and low modular sofas keep the look relaxed and sociable, without competing with the ever-changing coastal backdrop. A palette of natural and black stained oak continues within the kitchen, designed for entertaining, and features a large sociable island, integrated wine storage and a hidden bar. All the bespoke joinery was made by the highly skilled team at Square One whose attention to detail is evident throughout.

Designing a new-build home comes with the challenge of infusing character and warmth while staying true to its contemporary architecture. This was also to be a second home, where creating a sense of comfort was key. Stickland Wright’s interiors team prioritized warm tones and inviting textures, striking the perfect balance between sophistication and homeliness to craft a space that feels both welcoming and functional.

As part of our SW+ interior design service, we collaborated closely with the contractors of the new build to craft a thoughtfully designed interior for the new homeowners. Bespoke joinery played a crucial role in optimizing functionality, and we partnered with Square One Workshop to develop detailed construction designs and specifications, ensuring precision, quality, and a seamless fit throughout the home.
